An agent is more like a private banking associate with authority to do work across systems. It can break a request into steps, decide what to do next, call tools, check results, and keep going until the job is done.

For product managers in wealth management, the difference matters because most client workflows are not single-turn conversations. A client may ask for portfolio performance, then want tax implications, then ask to rebalance, then need approval workflow, then want a summary sent to their advisor.
