Agent memory is the part of an AI agent that stores useful information from past interactions so it can make better decisions later. In wealth management, agent memory lets an AI remember client preferences, portfolio context, compliance constraints, and prior actions instead of treating every conversation like a blank slate.

How It Works

Think of agent memory like a good relationship manager’s notebook.

During the call prep workflow, the assistant retrieves those memories and builds a briefing note:

  • Taxable account should avoid high-turnover funds
  • Client previously showed interest in structured notes but declined after fees were explained
  • Next action: prepare two income-oriented alternatives and schedule email follow-up

After the meeting, the RM tells the assistant:

The agent stores that as structured memory tied to the household record with a timestamp and source.

Next month, when the RM asks:

“What did we promise this client last time?”

the assistant returns:

That is useful because it saves time and preserves continuity across meetings.

It also shows why memory must be controlled. If this same system stored speculative notes as facts or surfaced them to retail support staff without permissioning, you would have a serious governance issue.
