    • Enterprises care about where embeddings live, how payloads are filtered by tenant or policy tags, and how access is controlled.
    • Qdrant’s collection model and payload indexing fit that requirement better than a general orchestration library.
  • You are building a shared retrieval layer for multiple applications.

    • One team can use the same Qdrant collections for customer support search while another uses them for policy document lookup.
    • That centralizes indexing strategy instead of duplicating vector stores inside app code.

    • For many enterprise systems, a clean API around embeddings + filters + reranking is enough.
    • Adding LangChain too early just adds abstraction layers between your app and the actual retrieval system.

For enterprise Specifically

Use Qdrant as the retrieval backbone and add LangChain only at the application edge where orchestration is required. Enterprise teams fail when they treat an orchestration framework like infrastructure or when they bury vector search inside application code.

The right split is simple: Qdrant owns embeddings, metadata filters, tenant isolation patterns, and similarity search; LangChain owns prompt flow, tool execution, retrievers-as-composition units, and agent logic. If you have to choose one today for enterprise foundation work: choose Qdrant.
