AI is changing the full-stack developer in lending role in a very specific way: you are no longer just shipping borrower portals, underwriting dashboards, and servicing workflows. You are now expected to wire those systems into retrieval pipelines, policy-aware assistants, and audit-friendly AI features that can explain decisions without creating compliance risk.

That means the job is shifting from “build screens and APIs” to “build systems that can safely use internal knowledge, customer data, and model outputs.” If you work in lending, the developers who stay relevant will be the ones who can ship RAG-based features with strong controls around accuracy, privacy, traceability, and human review.

    You need to understand how retrieval-augmented generation works end to end: chunking, embeddings, vector search, reranking, context assembly, and grounded generation.
