That means the compliance officer in healthcare is shifting from manual reviewer to control owner, model-risk translator, and evidence builder.

You need to know how LLMs fail when PHI is involved: prompt leakage, over-retention, unsafe logging, weak access controls, and vendor data reuse. A compliance officer in healthcare should be able to ask the right questions about where data goes, who can see it, how long it is stored, and whether the model provider uses it for training.
This matters because most AI incidents in healthcare will not start as “model bugs.” They will start as ordinary workflow mistakes that expose PHI through chat tools, copilots, or poorly configured internal assistants.
